Hey guys, so you may have read the first part of this blog were I suggested a few live streams, gigs, Netflix and creative channels to keep you entertained (you can read back here! ) but this week I have a curated a list of subscription channels and podcasts which I discussed on today’s Vinny Hurrell Show on BBC Radio Ulster you can listen back here (recorded from both our homes, see please forgive my mic!!) As always with a limited amount of time I couldn’t fit everything in the show, so here a few more suggestions below. Happy reading and I hope you find something you enjoy, stay safe!

Things I’m loving on BBC iplayer:

Noughts and Crosses – based in the Malorie Blackmen young adult novellas. Romeo and Juliet set in an alternative 21st century. The RSC did a stage version with Richard Madden  Dominic Cooke and Ony Uhiara.

Talking about Richard Madden you can also catch up The Bodyguard before it returns also highly recommend Line of Duty, Fleabag and Killing Eve!

New on the iplayer a true story with a lot of humour written and produced in NI- My Left Nut, telling the story of a testicular cancer diagnosis but with a lot of humour.

Coming to the BBC this week (and I’m genuinely excited to see this, not just because it’s Vinny!) Your new to show My First Home, I’m saving for my first house so will be glued to this one starting Monday at 10.40.

BBC Sounds

Desert Island Discs-I would love to give my castaway playlist and the guests on this are fab Lin-Manuel Miranda, Thom Yorke, Derren Brown, Louis Therox etc 2251 to listen to, it first started in Jan 1942😮

Sound of the 90s with Fearne Cotton get nostalgia and relive the era with songs like Everbody from Backstreet Boys, Blur, Spice Girls, Madonna, Reef and TLC etc.

From here to there and Stories in Sound: Fly on the wall both really interesting listens from local DJ Mairead Campbell.  Esp. Annie Macs interview.

And my guilty secret, Elaine page on a Sunday listen back and belt out the show tunes in the safety of your own home! Love The Ticket on Radio Ulster as well for some homegrown talent.

Netflix

Schitts Creek returns with its finale, fabulous funny but touching comedy about a rich family who loose all their money but find wealth of a different kind in a small town. Sixth season starts 14 May so catch up now!

Queer Eye season 5 is about to make its return so make sure your up to date but also check out Tan Frances side hustle next in fashion! Perfect escapism, if you watched project runway and love the great sewing challenge this is for you!

Have you watched Love is Blind? If not why not it’s cringe but fantastic viewing!!

Next on my watch list Tiger King!

Podcasts

My favourite at the moment for a little time out is Where is my mind by Niall Breslin, Voice Ireland judge and frontman Bressie is so comforting and reassuring but with a bit of craic. He’s also doing live meditation sessions on his Instagram at the minute nightly at 9.

Need a break from the kids CBeebies Radio podcast is the perfect mix of education and entertainment for them pop it into your home schooling schedule!

And of course last but not latest Disney+ what can I say The Mandolrian for Star Wars fans, Frozen 2, Classic Simpsons, 10 things I hate about you, Avengers:Endgame, Moana and all of Micky Mouse and friends. The parks maybe closed but there is a lot to entertain!!
