A walk among the tulips at Glenarm Castle.

Have you taken time to stop and smell the flowers recently? Do you need to take some fresh air and a bit of me time. Well this bank holiday weekend why not check out the Tulip festival at Glenarm Castle. Can’t get this weekend? Well why not pop in during the week pick up a coffee, a slice of the most amazing Victoria sponge cake and relax!

During the week I had been invited to the official launch of the new tea rooms situated in the lush green gardens of Glenarm Castle. I strolled leisurely through the gardens picking out my favourite flowers and feeling like I just stepped out of an Austen novel, walking in the shadows of the big house and about to be waited on but some very lovely friendly staff.

I was welcomed by the elegant Lady Dunluce and we took a tour of the grounds by Estates Manager Adrian Morrow who informed us of the history of the gardens and how he had worked on the land while it was still grazing land for the cattle.

The new Tea Rooms are situated in the former Mushroom House at the Estate, overlooking the kitchen garden, and are open daily. The rooms are bright, warm and elegant. I can see myself grabbing a book and retreating to the corner with a hot coffee in one of the plush winged chairs looking out over the gardens.Justin Donaldson formerly of the Fatted Calf leads the kitchen team and on the night of the launch he served some delicious street food to name a few; mini sliders, lamb pittas and  a sharp sweet berry Eton mess.
